The newly-appointed BJP in-charge for Jharkhand, Gajendra Singh Patel, has launched a sharp attack on the state government, accusing it of encouraging infiltration, failing to maintain law and order, and presiding over widespread corruption. Speaking at his first press conference at the party's state office in Ranchi on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, Patel stated that the ruling alliance has brought nothing but disappointment to the public since taking power in 2019.

Patel, who also serves as the BJP National General Secretary, was joined at the press conference by Jharkhand BJP President Aditya Sahu, Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi, and former Chief Minister Raghubar Das. Patel, a tribal leader from Madhya Pradesh representing the Khargone Parliamentary seat for his second term, was appointed as the state's party in-charge in September 2026.

Allegations of Infiltration and Electoral Interference

During the press conference, Patel raised serious concerns regarding the issue of infiltration in Jharkhand. He alleged that instead of taking steps to curb the influx, the Hemant Soren-led administration is actively encouraging it, with the state government machinery providing direct or indirect assistance to infiltrators.

He contrasted this with the initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who he said has worked to strengthen the democratic process by enrolling genuine voters and removing ineligible names from the electoral rolls. Patel accused the state government of opposing transparent processes, such as the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, and using misinformation to incite unrest within the tribal community.

Accusations of Corruption and Resource Plunder

Patel further alleged that the ruling coalition, comprising the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Congress, and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), is deeply mired in corruption. He claimed that the state's natural resources are being systematically plundered under the current administration.

According to Patel, mineral resources such as sand, coal, and stone are being openly looted alongside water, forests, and land. He also accused the government of misappropriating the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) funds. He noted that the BJP has consistently opposed this alleged looting through protests on the streets and discussions within the legislative assembly.

Failure in Governance and Public Services

Reflecting on the findings from his recent two-day visit across various districts in Jharkhand, Patel stated that the state is in a dire situation. He argued that the promises made by the JMM, Congress, and RJD in their election manifestos have proven to be false, leaving the public without basic amenities.

Patel asserted that the government has failed to deliver essential services, including healthcare, education, roads, electricity, drinking water, and irrigation. He added that all sections of society—including the poor, tribals, Dalits, backward classes, women, farmers, and youth—are currently distressed by the administration's performance.

Student Protests and Law and Order Concerns

The BJP leader also highlighted the grievances of the state's youth, pointing to recent student protests over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations. He criticized the government for paper leaks and administrative failures in exams conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand State Selection Commission (JSSC).

Patel claimed that these irregularities have damaged the future prospects of lakhs of young people. He further alleged that when students took to the streets to protest democratically, they were subjected to atrocities by the state authorities, leading to widespread anger among the youth.

Addressing the broader law and order situation, Patel stated that an atmosphere of fear prevails across Jharkhand. He alleged that criminals are operating without fear of the law, leading to open occurrences of murder, robbery, kidnapping, and shooting incidents. He concluded by stating that while the JMM, Congress, and RJD initially formed the government by misleading innocent tribals, the tribal community has now awakened to the reality of the administration's failures.
