Yash Unveils ‘Toxic’ Trailer in Bengaluru, Emphasizing Self-Belief and Creative Ownership
The trailer for the highly anticipated film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups was officially launched in Bengaluru on Saturday, August 8, 2026. The promotional event marked a significant milestone for Kannada star Yash, who is returning to the big screen after more than four years of association with the project, which included 200 days of shooting. Scheduled for release on August 26, 2026, Toxic is being viewed by many as a crucial test of Yash's ability to sustain the massive success he achieved with the KGF franchise.
At the launch event, co-star Nayanthara shared insights into her decision to attend the promotional gathering, a practice she typically avoids. Responding to a question from host Danish Sait regarding her absence from movie promotions, Nayanthara explained that she made an exception solely because of Yash. "I don’t attend promotional events because I am not very good at it. But for Toxic, I think it’s just Yash. He made a call, and it was enough for me to attend the event," she said.
A Collaborative and Hands-On Approach
Beyond playing the lead role, Yash has taken on the responsibilities of co-writer and co-producer for Toxic. This multi-faceted involvement reflects his preference for taking complete ownership of his projects rather than simply acting and moving on. Nayanthara remarked on Yash's commanding presence, comparing his real-life persona to his on-screen image. "When I first met Yash, I felt I was entering Rocky Bhai’s kingdom," she said, adding that his larger-than-life screen image matches his actual personality.
The film represents an unusual creative partnership between Yash and director Geetu Mohandas, whose artistic sensibilities are widely considered to be highly distinct. Addressing this pairing, Yash explained that he prioritizes a director's passion over their past commercial success. "When Geetu came to me with the idea of Toxic, I sensed a burning desire in her to show the world what she is capable of," he stated. He acknowledged that the production was challenging, requiring several tough decisions along the way.

The journey to bring Toxic to theatres has been lengthy, a delay that Yash indirectly addressed during the event. He noted the pressures of working in an industry where setbacks are closely watched and next steps are constantly questioned. "Some journeys have several hurdles, but you can’t lose focus on the destination. You have to fight your battles before you reach your target," Yash said. He referenced the Kannada proverb, kaalakke thakkante nadibeku, thaalakke thakkante kunibeku, which counsels conducting oneself according to time and circumstances.
Yash's career trajectory has been marked by a refusal to follow the conventional path of moving directly to Bollywood after achieving pan-India success. Instead, he has remained focused on drawing talent to his home industry, recalling his previous statement: "I am not going everywhere. I will bring everyone here." During interactions with foreign media, he openly embraced his local roots, sharing that he plans to watch Toxic with fans on its release day at Majestic, a well-known film hub in Bengaluru. "There is a different way to celebrate and consume cinema. People dance, sing, throw coins and turn the theatre into a stadium," he remarked.
Reflecting on his personal growth from his early days in Paduvaralli, Mysore, Yash spoke candidly about his journey and his uncompromising self-belief. "I don’t listen to people who say I can’t do certain things. If I can clearly see my goal, nothing will stop me from achieving it with time and effort," he said. This determination has seen him transition from dreaming of having a large cutout in Bengaluru's Gandhinagar to hosting one of the biggest promotional events of his career in the very same area, even incorporating a college dance step from Mysuru into the movie.
