Early Life and Career
Born in 1949, Nag grew up in an ashram and a mutt, where he was sent to Mumbai at the age of 12. It was there that he got an opportunity to act in a play as Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the saint-poet from Bengal. This marked the beginning of his acting career, which would eventually take him to the heights of success.
Nag's early days in Mumbai were spent in theatre, where he acted in around 50 different plays. He described this period as his training ground, where he honed his skills and developed his passion for acting.
Transition to Cinema
As Nag's theatre career progressed, he began to receive film offers, first in Kannada and later in Hindi. He worked with renowned filmmakers, including Shyam Benegal, and eventually chose to return to Karnataka as the opportunities there continued to grow.
