Toxic Box Office Day 8: Yash's Film Drops 35%, Crawls Past Rs 320 Crore Worldwide
Yash-starrer Toxic witnessed a significant drop in its box-office earnings on the eighth day of its theatrical run. The Geetu Mohandas directorial collected an estimated Rs 5.10 crore nett (gross minus taxes) in India on Wednesday, September 2, according to trade website Sacnilk.
The figure marks a 35 per cent decline from Tuesday, when the film earned Rs 7.85 crore nett. After the weekday dip, Toxic has now crawled past the Rs 320-crore mark worldwide.
The film's India nett collection stands at approximately Rs 234.70 crore, while its India gross has reached Rs 280.25 crore. The overseas market contributed around Rs 1 crore gross on Day 8, taking the film's cumulative overseas gross to Rs 41.75 crore.
Occupancy Trends Across Languages
The occupancy trends across languages showed that Toxic continued to perform better during later shows. The Hindi version recorded its highest occupancy during night screenings at 16.46 per cent. Kannada performed particularly well during afternoon shows, registering 27.38 per cent occupancy before ending the day at 19.31 per cent during night screenings.
Telugu screenings recorded 15.92 per cent occupancy in the afternoon and 17.50 per cent during night shows. Tamil saw its strongest turnout during night screenings at 16.64 per cent, while morning shows stood at 11.91 per cent.
Second Weekend Crucial for Toxic
Despite the pockets of stronger occupancy, the overall Wednesday collection remained considerably below Tuesday's figure. However, the coming days will determine whether Toxic can maintain its momentum and convert its strong opening into a long theatrical run.
The second weekend will be particularly important after the film's first major weekday correction. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is set in post-independence Goa and revolves around a gangster navigating a world of violence, loyalty, and redemption.
Yash headlines the film, with Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth playing key roles. The film marks Geetu Mohandas' first major commercial collaboration with Yash and has been mounted as a pan-India release across Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam.
