Actor Anupama Parameswaran has dismissed widespread social media speculation suggesting she hinted at a breakup with her rumoured boyfriend and co-star, Dhruv Vikram. Speaking at the teaser launch of her upcoming film, Crazy Kalyanam, the 30-year-old actor clarified that her recent Instagram posts were reflections of her personal thoughts and a woman's transition, rather than a reaction to her personal life.
The rumours intensified after Anupama returned to Instagram following a months-long absence. Her last activity on the platform was in February, when she posted to thank fans for their birthday wishes. Upon her return, she shared a series of yellow-themed photos and videos. While the visuals appeared cheerful, her captions focusing on healing, freedom, and self-prioritisation led many social media users to link them to Dhruv Vikram. Notably, neither Anupama nor Dhruv has ever officially confirmed they were in a relationship, and neither had previously addressed the ongoing speculation.
Anupama Clarifies Social Media Activity
Addressing the online chatter at the promotional event, Anupama defended her right to share her personal thoughts online. According to a report by Cinema Express, she stated that her posts were not intended as an outlet for frustration.
"It’s my social media account. I decide what to post. I was not venting out. I was just talking about a transition of a woman. And I feel proud that I did that," Anupama said.
She also cautioned the public against making assumptions about her private life based solely on her digital footprint. "What do you know about me? What do you know about my life? So, it’s okay. It is our Instagram, and we post whatever we like," she added, dismissing claims that her updates were targeted at any specific individual.
The Captions That Sparked Speculation
Several of Anupama's recent posts drew significant attention from her followers. In one update, she wrote, "Oooops!!!!!! Sorry for the photo dump. Turns out, when you don’t have to wait for approvals, a song selection, or someone else’s caption, posting becomes a lot more fun." Speculation linking Anupama and Dhruv gained traction earlier in 2025 while the two were working together on director Mari Selvaraj’s upcoming film, Bison Kaalamaadan. Online discussions grew after fans claimed to have discovered a shared Spotify playlist. The rumours were further fueled by an unverified image of the two kissing, which circulated online with claims that it was being used as the playlist's display picture.
Public interactions between the two actors also contributed to the speculation. At an awards show in Chennai earlier this year, Anupama appeared to blush when Dhruv wished her a happy birthday from the stage, during which she referred to him as her "2 AM call." Later, Dhruv shared a cosy selfie of the pair from another awards event in Mumbai, which Anupama re-shared on her own profile alongside a heart emoji.
