The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved a revised five per cent sports quota policy for government jobs. The decision is aimed at encouraging sportspersons across the state and strengthening their social and economic security.

Under the revised policy, Olympic sports will be considered for the state's employment quota. The initiative aligns with the state's broader sports objectives, including Mission Lakshyavedh, which specifically aims to identify and support athletes to produce future Olympic medallists.

Measures for Transparent Verification

To support the implementation of the revised quota, the state government has introduced new measures to enhance the transparency of the sports certificate verification process. A dedicated system will be established to verify these certificates, ensuring a more reliable and streamlined selection process for eligible athletes seeking government employment.

Healthcare and Industrial Approvals

In addition to the sports quota reforms, the Maharashtra Cabinet cleared several other key proposals during its meeting. The cabinet gave its approval to the PRAGATI healthcare project, designed to boost health infrastructure and services in the state.

The state government also approved a capital subsidy for Hyosung India. Furthermore, the Cabinet cleared multiple proposals concerning land allotment and land leases to facilitate various development projects across Maharashtra.
