Dyson Launches New Nurovi Robot Vacuum Line Featuring Lidar Navigation
Dyson has officially launched its new Dyson Nurovi robot vacuum line, introducing three models: the Dyson R1 Nurovi Dry, the Dyson R2 Nurovi Wash + Dry, and the Dyson R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub UV. This release follows a series of product announcements by Dyson earlier in September, which included various vacuums and an electric toothbrush equipped with a built-in camera. The three new robotic vacuums are now available for purchase at different price points and through select retail channels.
The Nurovi line introduces several design and technological updates compared to Dyson's previous robotic vacuum offerings. All three models feature a light gray color scheme, distinguishing the vacuums and their base stations from the older Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai. Despite the color change, the base stations retain Dyson's signature canister-style compartments. A major technological shift in the Nurovi line is the integration of lidar laser-precision navigation, replacing the HD camera system utilized in Dyson's previous robot vacuum. Additionally, the new models feature a Twin-Capture System designed to collect dust and debris from both hard floors and carpets.
Key Features of the Nurovi Models
Priced at $550, the Dyson R1 Nurovi Dry is the entry-level, vacuum-only model in the new lineup. It is designed primarily for carpeted and soft flooring that does not require mopping. Like the other models in the line, the R1 utilizes lidar navigation and the Twin-Capture System. Dyson promises that the R1 will offer an improved user experience compared to the older Dyson Vis Nav model released a few years ago. The R1 is available directly on Dyson's website and is expected to be sold through other retailers.
The mid-tier model, the Dyson R2 Nurovi Wash + Dry, is priced at $700 and functions as a vacuum-mop hybrid. This model features triangle-style mopping pads designed for corner cleaning and delivers 21,000 Pa of suction power. It also includes the standard lidar navigation and Twin-Capture technology. However, availability for the R2 is limited, as it is a Costco exclusive, meaning customers must hold a Costco membership to purchase the device.
The Premium R3 Spot+Scrub UV
At the top of the new lineup is the Dyson R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub UV, priced at $1,200. This premium vacuum-mop hybrid features a UV light system designed to detect stains on floors. It also incorporates artificial intelligence, which Dyson claims can identify up to 200 different types of household substances and continue cleaning them until they are completely removed. The R3 offers the highest suction power in the lineup at 30,000 Pa. Like the R1, the R3 is available on Dyson's website and is expected to be sold at other retail outlets.
